This bridge replacement provides the Region with the ability to have critical bridge improvements constructed, that will eliminate bridge deficiencies and improve the infrastructure of the area.
The bridge is a 4-span, multi-steel 12-girder bridge with a condition rating of 4.063 (on a scale 1 to 7) as per the 2008 Biennial Inspection Report; currently the lowest in the Region.
Project scope involved a traffic analysis of existing conditions and recommendation methods determining the need for repair for the replacement of the bridge deck and superstructure.
Bridge work included structural assessment, fatigue analysis, design for steel and concrete repair, continuity retrofit, bearings, retaining wall design, railings, lighting upgrade, asbestos removal, MPT design, and other related tasks.
This project also involved coordination with various agencies, and public outreach.
